Our bells have been rung over the years in many peals, quarter peals, and special event rings, by visitors and by members of our band. We have just found a folder of peals going back to the 1970s, which was sent to us years ago by Alan Ellis. The rest come from Bellboard, plus a few just on the wall.
As you can see, you may book the towers for your band’s peal attempts, take part during a May Ringing Weekend as an individual, or just come along yourself to Quebec and ask if we have time for a quarter attempt, and the local band will fill in.
For those of you who like the stats, roughly counting, there have been 25 peals and 75 quarter peals ring since we kept track. In the 1970s visiting bands rang 3 peals and 4 quarter peals. In the 1980s visiting bands rang 3 peals and 4 quarters, plus 7 quarters during what looks to be the May Ringing Weekend. In the 1990s, visiting bands rang 9 peals and 8 quarters, plus 5 quarters on the May Ringing Weekend, and one quarter peal with what looks to be the first time a local joined visitors. In the 2000s, visiting bands rang 5 peals and 2 quarters, plus 9 quarters on the May Ringing Weekend, and there was one peal and 3 quarters that a local joined with visitors, and the first all local quarter. In the 2010s, visiting bands rang 2 peals and 5 quarters, plus 12 quarters on the May Ringing Weekend, locals joined with visitors for 4 quarters, and an all local band rang a quarter. In the 2020s so far, visiting bands rang 1 peal and 1 quarter, the May Ringing Weekend had 5 quarters, locals joined with visitors for 3 quarters, and an all local band rang a quarter. Most May Ringing Weekend quarters involve both visitors and locals.
If you see your ring here without a photo, and would like to have the photo in, please send it. If you remember doing a special ring in Quebec, and don’t see it here, please send that info along to liason@changeringingquebec.ca
